As a developer, I have come to know that mobile technology is becoming more real, while the real world seems to becoming more augmented. Statistics indicate that by the year 2015, there will be almost 1.5 billion downloads of mobile augmented reality applications to smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. For anyone in the creative application world, like me, it is essential to be ready to meet the market head-on.
How AR Applications Make Searching More Interesting
Augmented reality applications have quickly combined the virtual world with the world of reality. With Googleâ€™s ability to quickly analyze any photo, and instantly recognize it out of their huge archive of photos and images, developing augmented reality that connects with this capability could be key to any developerâ€™s creative application.
For me, I can quickly add specific Geo-referenced data to the photograph on the smartphone or tablet, and provide detailed information of the exact distance from the mobile device to that specific item.

When creating applications, I consider the limitless potential of combining the virtual and real worlds with all the reference information available. Augmented reality applications are being designed to recognize objects in close proximity to the mobile device and offer supported information/data from reliable sources including YouTube and Wikipedia in various ways, to enhance the experience of the person holding the mobile device.

It is obvious that the world of medical research has realized the advantages of using augmented reality as a way to blend the virtual world with the real world through imagery. While much reality imagery has been nothing more than a two-dimensional picture, AR can now be used to project three-dimensional images directly onto a patient.
Now, an orthopedist has the ability to look into deep structures, like a chest x-ray, in a three-dimensional image without actually looking into the patient, eliminating the need for surgical exposure or incisions.
The world of augmented reality is built on advanced technology that uses highly sophisticated computer-assisted navigation platforms. The upcoming generation of AR technology includes control and display device software, along with position tracking that allows surgeons and doctors to see an image without needing to use invasive procedures to gain the much-needed information.
AR apps provide tremendous potential and opportunities for all types of enterprises including tourism and travel, healthcare, manufacturing, education, commerce, sports and entertainment, and much more. Augmented reality applications are the future. As a developer, it is essential for me to understand the changing technology, along with its potential limitations.
By focusing on user experience, and creating an intuitive interface, which is both interactive and engaging, users can take full advantage of AR technology.
