Experiential Marketing agency, Stretch, helped Lipton Ice Tea promote their tagline, ‘Never Lose Your Cool’ in a fun experiential campaign by creating The World’s First Floating Vending Machine. They recently did another fun experiential campaign called the TEA-MOMETER; a thermo activated vending machine!
Launched on February 13th, 2013, on UCT campus, consumers were being rewarded free Lipton Ice Tea if they had a high body temperature (and heart rate).
The Tea-mometer makes use of touchscreen technology, suitably housed in a life-size Lipton Ice Tea can structure. Intrigued by the activation, consumers are encouraged to ‘warm up’ by hula hooping, dancing and running up and down the Jammie stairs.
They then queued to have a turn to place a hand on the vending machine’s touchscreen temperature gauge. Depending on how hot they were they would be given up to two cans of iced tea. Feeling a bit too chilled and the vending machine would recommend a few unusual ways to warm up such as a dance or a few star jumps before trying again. All the warm-ups were recorded with iPads so that they could be shared instantly with social media.
The concept was development to creatively bring to life the refreshment properties of the brand and to reinforce their ‘never lose your cool proposition’.
This campaign really hits the mark and connects the messaging with the activation. Besides, who wouldn’t want to do some fun and quirky activities for some free drinks? Great job Stretch!
