Sweden’s Safest Hands iPhone App A Hit or Miss?

October 4, 2011 by Ryan Lum - 0 comments

“This week the competition ‘Sweden’s safest hands’ kicked off. A competition where we challenge people in Sweden to carry parcels as safe as the Swedish Post, by using their iPhones. If you ‘deliver’ the digital parcel intact, before everyone else, you win the content (with a value between 300 and 5000 SEK). The content is delivered to the winner the very next day. Every day at 6 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM a new parcel is released in the app. 42 parcels in total. The competitors have 24 hours to deliver the parcel. The competition lasts until October 9th.”

My initial impression of this social app marketing strategy was that it would be a bust. I highly doubt you will see others running towards the same destination or even have time to play this game. Unless the parcel is close-by, it is hard to imagine an individual taking time to deliver this package. The only incentive is obviously the prize. I think if the prize is worth it, then there could be good participation. Overall there are so many factors to this campaign. I’m curious to hear the results after the campaign has finished.
