Would You Eat A Scorpion For A Chance To Win €300? is a new start up in Ireland that hopes to capture new consumers via their group coupon service. The company launched on December 6th by sending out over 200 lollipops containing real stingless scorpions. The lollipops had a tag that said, “We take the sting out of enjoying yourself” and a link to the start-ups press page which explains the awareness campaign. The result was a mix of intrigued influencers who took to radio, press and twitter to find out more. The press release also mentioned to keep an eye out on the streets on the 8th of December for an upcoming fun event.

On Saturday December 8th’s Comedian of the year Eric Lalor took to Grafton Street with to bring this campaign to the public. Eric and picked out 20 brave members of the public and challenged them to eat scorpions contained in the lollies. It didn’t seem too hard to find 20 willing participants once the mention that one of them would be walking away with €300 in cash for their troubles. Participants ranged from young teens to members of the Azerbaijan news crew. Jennie the winner of the €300 donated her entire winnings to the Youth Work Ireland, a worthy cause which she had been collecting for in the city on the day.
