Why Lynx’s Sequel to Axe’s Viral Hit, ‘Wash Your Balls’, Failed

Back in 2010, Axe released a video that racked up over 3 million views. It received the most buzz of any viral video advertisement that year. The “Wash Your Balls” video was a fake infomercial featuring two very attractive women washing various sporting equipment. More specifically, they were washing balls.

Why was it so successful? Perhaps it was the combination of the beautiful women, the funny double entendres or the perfect reaction shots.

Well the sister company, Lynx, wanted to piggyback off the success of this viral video. Late last year they released “Cleans Your Balls.”

This video features two equally beautiful women, slightly different double entendres and several reaction shots. The main difference? It only has a little over 900k view. So it leaves us asking, why didn’t it see the same success?
